After Mom and M were finished with lunch, we got to talking about a movie M and I mentioned he had never seen. Delighted, I declared that was what we were watching, and it was on Max, so we wouldn't need to pay for anything. (Always a plus in my book!) It is a fun little movie, and Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are terrific Barbie dolls come to life. The movie has a lot to say about gender roles and female empowerment. I thoroughly enjoyed it and M was definitely chuckling more than once.

Ah, I remember when I needed to pay taxes but that time is over with. Well, I do still pay taxes but I don't prepare my tax return anymore. There is no earned income, just trust money, and luckily that still exists. The stock market doesn't seem to be the reliable investment it once was. If it wasn't so devastating, I could enjoy watching our president reap the rewards of his own failed policies. He has waited decades to show us all how great tariffs are, and he is not about to back down now. Sorry, too much political TMI.
My masseuse was not feeling well and had to cancel today. I will see her next week.

So it has taken a while, but I am finally on a better medication that keeps my pooping regular without suppositories. I take two pills with breakfast and two with dinner and my BMs are nice and soft and usually come out in the morning.
I took my first pill Monday night, so things were still getting worked out this morning. I didn't poop before my shower, and I could feel it was waiting to come out. Hanging in the sling in a Hoyer lift is evidently the best position for your body to evacuate. As they were transferring me back to bed, I felt my body releasing everything. I had a cheering squad encouraging me to get rid of all of it. Well, that's better than a huge awkward silence. It was really nice to get rid of that full feeling I had. (Apparently with me, the cringy stuff is either politics or poop. You be the judge about which is worse.)
Thursday. April 17th
I was wondering if I would see Freddie today and then voila! Here comes Dr. R and the sweetie in his stroller. It was so good to see him after two weeks of nothing. We opened the curtain so my neighbor could get a look at him. She raised her bed so she could see him and Freddie got to see where the horrible noise was coming from. Dr. R took a few pictures of us together and thus I have the cover photo for this week!
I told her that Chris Gethard was doing a show at Anna O'Brien’s on Friday. She got her phone out and looked it up and it is actually Saturday night from 7 to 9 PM. She said she had a girlfriend who liked to go out so she would call her and they could both go to the show. Yikes! I didn't expect her to do that!
I told her that if she could, she should tell Chris to have the High Priestess check the voicemail. That's a backup if he doesn't get the card. He will understand that as a reference to B/A. I asked where the club was and she said it used to be called Anna Banana’s. I knew where it was then, as it had existed during my high school years. I never went in the place, but how could you forget a name like that?

I really need to write my April essay soon. Every day, it seems, things get worse and worse in America. I didn't want to just whip off something quickly. I wanted it to encapsulate the problems succinctly and thoroughly and then transition into what America should be and used to be - embodied by Superman and his slogan Truth, Justice and The American Way. Yes, I am laying it on thick, but there needs to be a big dose of what’s right to counter all of this disgusting fascism and dictatorship. Stay tuned.

My sister was attending at least one, if not two, protests today so I will see her tomorrow. Her best friend’s mother was also having her 80th birthday party that night. My sister and she have been friends since high school, 35 or so years ago, so Mom attended the party with her. I'm glad it doesn't bother me that I don't get to go to any of these parties. Whatever. See? I don't care. Go ahead. Have fun. Live it up. Blah, blah, blah.
Sunday, April 20th
I had talked to M so she knew I needed an early morning shower. We got that done and I had breakfast before Mom showed up at about 9:15. That's when Brett, who helps me with my website, FaceTimed me from church and I got to watch the Easter service. Very nice! There's something very comforting about hearing the same hymns and the same liturgy that was burned into me on Maui. Brett and I are going to set up a time so he can bring me to church with FaceTime or Zoom once a month. Great!
Mom and I ended up watching Nate Bargatze’s latest stand-up special on Netflix which was fine. It didn't bowl me over, but it was completely clean and something new for Mom and me to watch. She then fed me lunch and my sister showed up right after Mom left.
She showed me a picture of her sign, which had ended up on the cover of the local newspaper! Good job! It said, ‘WAKE UP! This is tyranny!’ My sister then read what I had so far for the essay and she really liked it. Wonderful! I know I'm on the right track if she didn't give me any corrections or suggestions. The essay is me doing what I can for the cause, as I cannot march. I'm going to submit this to newspapers to help spread the word.
The photo is the picture Dr. R took of Freddie sitting with me as I read part of my essay to her. He had retreated to his stroller when I brought out the iPad, which blocked his view of me. That made him climb back on the bed so he could sit next to me. Fabulous! Have a wonderful week!
