“Rush” - 4/21-27/25

Monday, April 21st

Mom and M came in with this movie picked, which was fine by me. It's always nice not to have to hunt for something. I think they had been talking about racing movies, and the true story behind this movie is compelling. Of course, everyone had already seen this movie, but I didn't mind watching it again. It definitely gives you a good insight into the perils of racing cars.

Tuesday, April 22nd

Unfortunately, my masseuse was sick and would not make it until May. I was not paying attention to writing my blog this weekend, and all of a sudden I was falling asleep Sunday night when I realized I had not started word one of my report for the week. I briefly thought of skipping a week before I metaphorically slapped myself around and went back to sleep, knowing I would write it today. There is something about writing the blog during that week. When Monday comes, I seem to forget everything that happened the week before. We'll see…

Wednesday, April 23rd

Since I am scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to talk about, let me give you a BM update. I know that is a topic of interest. (not) (Are you kidding me? That's the only reason I read your blog!) (ha ha) I am currently in a transitionary period, as the new medicine worked great for about eight or nine days and then stopped softening things. The laxative properties are going strong, though. I can't get a suppository every day, so now, on the off days, my body spends the time unsuccessfully trying to push out the hard matter inside me. Yippee. (That was sarcastic.) I think I need to give it a few more weeks to see if the softening comes back. If not, it's back to the old routine, which would hopefully be effective again after a break. BM report complete.

Thursday, April 24th

Dr. R had texted me that she had a cold and would not be there this week. Boo hoo! I guess this is the week of no visitors. I rearranged the icons on my iPad so there is a small gap right where Humphrey’s face is. Perfect! I also love looking up at his picture on the wall, knowing somewhere we are still connected. I still feel his presence near me. My other two cats are in a photo right above his, but I just don't feel them as strongly. All of them know how much I love them all!

Friday, April 25th

I got caught up on inputting financial information from my credit card bills. The bills have not had many entries, as I have really cut back on my spending. Adding the supplements means there has not been any savings overall. That's all I will say about that subject. There is so much uncertainty about the future. It makes my life much more difficult. Heavy sigh.

Saturday, April 26th

It's sushi weekend! My sister wasn't able to make it for lunch, so I had to eat their meal. (The things I have to put up with!) Lots of sushi for dinner, though! California roll with brown rice and salmon, not tuna. I love the way the big piece of avocado looks. My sister got a spicy tuna roll, and we exchanged a piece. It wasn't spicy, and I do prefer tuna, but they were both good. She also got me a caterpillar roll with avocado on the outside and veggies inside. I saved that for Sunday breakfast. Yum!

We watched an episode of Lioness. We are halfway through the second season, and we both like that the two leads are strong women. I just really wish that Nicole Kidman had not felt the need to have plastic surgery. I always thought she was a gorgeous woman, but I have a hard time looking at her after she’s had work done. Maybe someday, people will realize they look much better, even with a few wrinkles, than they do after they’ve had their face stretched. (Watch Brazil for a great take on plastic surgery.)

My sister only stayed two hours, as her friend had called her about a fundraiser that she wanted to attend that night. She said she would stop by tomorrow for a while! That's worth it! Have fun tonight!

Sunday, April 27th

I ended up eating half the roll for breakfast and half for lunch. I want the yumminess to last as long as it can. I am realizing I like the caterpillar roll with the avocado on top of the rice because the rice does not get hard when I save it overnight. Good to know!

My sister came by to give me lunch, and we watched another episode of Lioness. We also watched the opening of the movie Longlegs. It's on Hulu, and I find it to be an extremely creepy and extremely effective scary movie. I had to share it with her. You know from those five minutes if you want to watch the movie or if you really don't. There's nothing gross or gory, just very disconcerting.

I need to be more intentional about tracking my daily symptoms. On one hand, it makes me tired to think of doing that, because I have done that and it was an exercise in futility because I never looked back or analyzed anything. But it was just me then, so it kinda didn't matter. Now it does, and I could track it on the computer and make charts and graphs with my data. That could be fun. So I need to get that going.

I also think about Beautiful/Anonymous and how they still have not listened to their voicemail. I can't believe they wouldn't call me after listening to all the messages I have left. I firmly believe that will happen, it's just a matter of time.

The photo this week is a shot Dr. R took of Freddie last week. Only my hand is in it, but I'm there! I basically don't have anything else to use, so here you go. Have a fabulous week!
