We started thinking of a movie, and this one came to M's mind since Kevin Costner is in it and it has some laughs. There is a cavalcade of stars headed by Kevin Kline and Scott Glenn, with Danny Glover, Brian Dennehy, John Cleese, and Ruth Gordon included. This 1985 film is directed by Lawrence Kasdan and got two Oscar nominations. It's a fun movie with just a little bit of dated racism. Not enough to put you off, just something to remind you we don't say things like that anymore.

I finished the blog for last week and posted it. I'm not going to feel bad if it doesn't get out on Monday. I started to feel bad on Wednesday, but even then, I'd love to hear that people are clamoring for the blog. What happened with you last week? I can't go on with my week until I know what your adventures were. A. It is a wild exaggeration to use the word ’adventures’ to describe my life, and B. Don't let me hold anything up for you. No, really. Live your life without worrying about little old me.

J came by and first made sure my Wi-Fi was updated and secure. Then we talked about the problem I had been having with the iPad. We eventually called the Apple support helpline and had them walk us through resetting the iPad back to factory defaults. No data was lost, but all the settings were cleared out and everything was reset as if it were brand new. That's what I needed to do to clear up all the crap that was making my iPad run slowly.
I had asked for an order of crispy spring rolls, and he had brought me four rolls from Whole Foods. They came with a little bit of avocado sauce that was quite good. They were vegetarian rolls that were very tasty! My hospital dinner included plain beef that was actually not overcooked and was very yummy. So we took the beef and added it to each bite of the spring rolls with the avocado sauce. Two rolls were just right for dinner, and I will have the other two tomorrow night.

Dr. R is still on vacation, so I thought about Freddie instead of seeing him. I get a little wistful about what could've been if I had been able to adopt him, but I couldn't. Another cat came into my life immediately after Humphrey left, but I am still working on a place to live. I keep thinking to myself that everything will work out, but sometimes that doesn't really help.

A came by, but I think we did more talking than hand exercises. I do not discount the value of social interactions. That is almost as valuable as the exercises themselves. But I have noticed my left hand getting weaker to the point that I feel motivated to exercise it myself. Horrors! It must be serious if you are willingly exercising! Ha ha, but it's true.

More sushi from Whole Foods today! Shrimp California Roll is becoming a regular, which I am not mad about. They had a roll with cooked salmon surrounded by seaweed, nori, which I got. My sister got two packages for herself, and we had a nice lunch while watching the latest South Park episode and an episode of MobLand. My sister also ended up eating or taking home some of my hospital lunch. The food is good, but a bit boring to me now. Have at it!
I had one new card to put on my wall, but there were not many chores to do. Really? I felt like I was forgetting something, so I have to do better about making notes in my Reminders app. We tried to look up information about Hulu, but my sister didn't have her account information with her, so we will check that out later. I like them because Hulu is where I can watch SNL, but you need to pay for live TV to do that. That wouldn't be a bad thing, but there is a limit to how many things I can subscribe to. (It's enough to make you wish for the old days when you paid through the nose for one service instead of many smaller services. Sigh.)

Mom came by after church, and I was actually dozing, so she let me sleep and sat in the corner. I dozed for a few minutes more and then got up and let her give me lunch. She had seen a cockroach scurrying around, and I mentioned I had seen them as well. That prompted her to look through my entire bedside stand to clean things out. That is certainly a good thing to do, and she did not find any nests! I was afraid there might be a stray open container of food, but no! Good for me!
That meant they were behind the walls somewhere, and I should tell someone about that so they could plug the hole. She also took the blanket that I wrap around my feet and my new eyeshades to wash and bring back tomorrow when she comes. We played a few rounds of Connections and then she left. I spent the rest of the day writing my blog, but it was a little slow going because Apple had updated something, and now Google Docs didn't work smoothly with it.
This was what I feared when I converted to Apple. To really work perfectly, I needed to do everything on Apple products, and I instinctively chafe at having my choices limited in any way. Maybe I like the way Google Docs works, and I want to keep using it. Well, this is what happens when you have two technical behemoths conflicting with one another. I'll make it work.
This is a picture of my sister and me that we took at my high school after the reunion, when we were waiting for the cab to take me back to the hospital. Have a fabulous week!
