M and I were talking about people we knew, and I mentioned I had a friend when I lived in LA who knew Suzanne Pleshette. M mentioned this movie and was surprised when I said I hadn't seen it. He said it was on YouTube, but I do not have Premium, and he was worried about commercials. The thing about YouTube is, they only put commercials on popular things you want to watch. This movie was not that. Not because it was bad, it was just not well-known.
It's a movie from 1965 starring Glenn Ford, Rod Taylor, Nancy Kwon and Suzanne Pleshette. We turned up the brightness on my iPad, and it looked glorious in black-and-white. GF is investigating an airline crash where everyone, including RT as the pilot, died. GF does a very good job of being determined and sincere. I'm not sure if I like the title since I'm not sure what it is supposed to mean. I enjoyed watching it a second time on Friday morning and still couldn’t figure it out.

Sorry, even as I was making notes on the other days on what happened, I couldn't remember anything for today!
Wednesday, November 19th
J was busy so couldn't come today. I asked Mom to get the garlic herb chicken salad from DHG for lunch. I especially loved the dressing! I thought we would only get two servings out of it, but it ended up lasting for three meals, largely because of how much chicken there was. Yippee! Later that night, I was good and remembered to make cab reservations for Thanksgiving.
I had C as my CNA in the evening, which is always a little bit trying. I am very ambivalent about her. She is very pleasant, and she likes me, but she's not great at doing her CNA duties. I have been tamping down my frustration with her, and she is slowly getting better, so that's good.
She was telling me about a new admittance on the floor. An older man with dementia whose wife had been his only caretaker. He ardently loved his wife, but he did not want her to have anything to do with changing him. He didn't realize that C wasn't his wife, so we fought everyone who was trying to change him. Or shower him. She said the wife had had to leave the room. I can only imagine how upsetting it must've been for her.

Dr R and Freddie came and got on my bed like last week. Then we heard an announcement over the loudspeaker that the Leahi there was ending soon and things were now half price. They had plate lunches, which sounded good to me, so Dr. R left the stroller with me and went down and got some stuff. She came back with chicken, rice, and potato salad, a banana dessert, and rainbow Jell-O. I'll take it!
The food was only OK, not as fun as I was hoping it would be. Somehow, my rainbow Jell-O did not get labeled, so that disappeared, but I had some of everything else. I still had the garlic salad left over, so I had plenty to eat.
I had been thinking about the new admittance, and that gave me the idea of offering myself as someone who could talk to people dropping someone off here. I could reassure them that this is a really good facility and that they made the right decision. As difficult as it is to give up care of your loved one, you are only risking hurting yourself, them, or both of you if you continue. I don't know if they would go for that, but I'm going to offer.

I called Brett, my computer guy, to ask him to print out the blog I wrote the day Humphrey died. You've heard me talk about the podcast Beautiful/Anonymous, and they are gathering submissions for another magazine. I like that that would be a tribute to him and a way to tell the story of a pet dying, but it being a really wonderful experience. Brett will print it out and give it to Mom when they see each other at church.

My sister was finally able to bring sushi from a Whole Foods that I really like. There's a California roll with shrimp instead of crab and what they call a dragon roll. That's avocado around rice, surrounding thinly chopped carrots and a little bit more avocado. My nutritionist really does not like eating raw fish. Luckily, this is the perfect alternative! So much for trying to avoid Whole Foods. They are the only ones who make vegetable sushi. I also love their sushi because they make it in the extra-large, ugly American size. Yum!

Mom stopped by for lunch and had the printout Brett had given her. He had altered a little bit to make it nice, but I had wanted it in the blog format with the date. I had mom add the year and gave her the address to send it. I also wanted her to send a separate note asking him to check his voicemail. I had left messages in March that have yet to be picked up. We shall see…
The cover photo for this week is a shot of me in my new Beats headphones! They have excellent noise canceling, I can use them while they are charging, and because they are Apple, they integrate seamlessly with my phone. I don't have to turn on the speaker when I get a call; the audio comes directly through my headphones! Perfect! I don't mean to be a shill for Apple, but there is an advantage to being "all Apple." This is also a Kim Kardashian color. Have a fabulous week!
