I decided to let M pick the movie, so he chose this 1965 movie directed by Elio Petri starring Marcello Mastroianni and Ursula Andress. This is the groovy future where everybody‘s favorite game is murder. Ursula is hunting Marcello, but things get complicated when they fall in love. The thing I enjoyed the most was seeing our leading lady with a full, curvy body. She was fit and gorgeous with a definite hourglass profile. No stick figures here!
Because we had almost an hour after the movie was finished, we started watching Death Race 2000 since it was free on Prime, and I didn't know if I had actually watched it. I fast-forwarded through parts so we could finish it, but we still didn't complete it. It's hilarious watching a very young Sylvester Stallone racing against David Carradine. I might have to go back to that sometime.

I was waiting for breakfast and listening to Up First when they said the date, and I realized it was my sister's birthday! My family has a tradition of calling anyone who has a birthday early in the morning and singing “Happy Birthday” to them. Unfortunately, none of us, including me, can carry a tune, so it ends up being a little bit of heartfelt torture for the birthday girl. We wouldn't have it any other way.
The rest of the day was spent writing my blog, that I didn't even start until today! You're getting lazier and lazier, Ellen. I do not like this trend, so I resolve to start my blog next week earlier. Maybe even on Friday?
Wednesday, November 12th
Mom came by at 11 with D, a new massage therapist who proceeded to give me a good massage. She works with veterans, and we had a good time getting to know each other. Somehow, I thought I would see Mom after the massage, but of course, she wasn't there. Once again, I had assumed something and had not actually asked Mom if she was staying. No biggie.
I knew J was coming at 2 p.m., bringing spring rolls from the new Thai food restaurant near Mom and him. I was looking forward to that and to get my iPad looked at by him. He did install updates on my iPad and my phone, which was great. I use my iPad hard as I do everything with voice control 24/7. J was telling me how the new iPad has a different chip, and I'm thinking of asking for that for Christmas.
The spring rolls were from a new restaurant near Mom, and they were good. Not the best I've ever had, but completely acceptable. Yikes! I don't think that‘s a ringing endorsement, but that's what I thought.
I also called TheCab to make reservations for a doctor’s appointment I have tomorrow. I called on Sunday, and she said I mean to make the reservation the day before because it‘s for Medicaid. So now it‘s the day before. I called, and she got paperwork from the hospital, but she said my name was not on it. I couldn't make the reservations. I was confused as I have been able to do this before. I guess I don‘t have a doctor’s appointment.
Thursday, November 13th
I asked to talk to the head nurse early in the morning, and she confirmed I didn't have travel arrangements. She then canceled my appointment, and I called to reschedule. The next available appointment was next March! It's a follow-up eye appointment, which I don't think is terribly important right now, and I want to wear the eyepatch concertedly and see how that changes things. I had my head nurse include putting the eyepatch on my eye in my daily routine. That should help!
Dr. R brought Freddie, and as he was waiting for us to start, he sat up in the stroller and looked around. That was unusual. Then, when she unzipped the stroller, he started to get up on the bed! She told me that she had not given him breakfast this morning. So instead of sleeping and not being interested in anything, he was looking around for food.
She had him get up on the bed and gave him a snack she brought. It was a paste he loved, and she put it on my arm so he could lick it off. Wonderful! Now we know what to do to make him a little more interested in me. I feel a little bit sorry for delaying his breakfast, but it's not like he is hurting for food. He’ll live.
During dinner, my evening helper noticed what looked like a flower on my plant! I think that proves how happy it is. I'm going to take a picture of it for the blog this week.
Friday, November 14th
A came around 1030, and we had a nice check-in while she worked on my hand. Mom came for lunch, and we played some games on the New York Times app.
Saturday, November 15th
My sister had some stuff to do and then went to the bank and then to the grocery store, and got some supermarket sushi. She couldn't go to Whole Foods today, so it was completely normal sushi. I don't want raw fish, so she got me a California roll and a tempura sushi roll. Regular grocery stores put either a small slice or no avocado in their California roll. Not great. Oh, well. I'll get the good stuff next week.
I told Pam about the flower, and she could not find it. I realized what I had seen was the back of some leaves that were purple. Then the leaves opened, and you couldn't see the color anymore. Oh well, it's just a happy growing plant instead of a happy flowering plant. Works for me!
We watched the end of a movie we had started the other week, and then she got a call from my cousin who was flying to the mainland. Their flight got delayed 10 or 11 hours, so they invited my sister to dinner. That was the end of her visit, which I totally understood. Have a nice dinner!
Sunday, November 16th
Mom visited for lunch after church, and we ended up watching a movie. I had recently watched Werner Herzog’s Grizzly Man, and I thought it was very well done and wanted to share it. It did not affect Mom the same way, and I probably should have known better. Sorry, Mom!
This is my happy plant that's been growing like gangbusters since I got it. The first picture I did of my plant was for Network 7/21 - 27/25. I hope all your plants are as happy as mine. Have a fabulous week!
