In keeping with the Kurt Russell movie we watched last week, M suggested this movie from 1980. It's KR with Jack Warden in an early Robert Zemeckis film produced by Steven Spielberg and John Milius, so it's an early B movie with a great pedigree. Prime video rated it 4 1/2 stars and we laughed a lot while watching it, although it does have an early 80s view of women and racial minorities. Don't expect much on that front.

Mom came by with a new masseuse at 11 AM. She was very nice, and I forget why, but she decided to massage me without using oil. I'd never had a dry massage, and it wasn't bad, but I felt like I was missing out somehow. She was nice and not expensive, but Mom also got a quirky impression from her, and we decided she wouldn't be my primary masseuse.
At 6 PM after dinner, I called TheCab to order my reservation for Friday. My birthday was Sunday, and we were going to do dinner that night, but my sister got invited to Moloka‘i for the weekend, so we rescheduled the celebration meal for Friday lunch.
After I hung up from that call, I dialed my friend C, whom I had recently gotten back in touch with after five years. We had hooked up on Maui over a year and a half, and then he had ghosted me. I finally found out why, as he told me his life had completely fallen apart, and he and his two youngish kids had lived out of a van for a couple of years. Yikes! I figured since he is still on Maui and I am here now, he's not making a booty call anymore, so there must be some friendship there. That's nice.
Wednesday, December 3rd
My neighbor, who was only here for a three-week stay, left this morning. I never interacted with her because she is hard of hearing, and I have no volume anymore. I did, however, press my call button for her when I heard her softly call out for water. Then someone would come and stop her from trying to get out of bed. I met her son, but he only saw me as another patient, not as an alert person who could look out for his mom. I guess I wanted him to know I could help take care of her in my own small way. I will trudge on in anonymity…
J couldn't come today because B had a doctor's appointment. I will see them next week. I asked Mom not to stop by as I needed to work on some end-of-the-year financial stuff. I categorize all my credit card charges, and after March, I had not been doing it. I finished through June today and will finish through November by the end of the week.
Thursday, December 4th
Categorizing credit card charges involves getting a screenshot of the month's charges and then going back and forth between that photo and the sheet for that month and entering the specific charges. I actually like doing that because I enjoy being precise and then seeing where I spend my money. I love working on databases or anything that requires detail work. Good, because now I have to go through my checking account, Amazon, and other charges to finish filling in the categories.
Mom came by for lunch, and we played a few games of Connections after I finished eating.
Friday, December 5th
My CNA, M, got me up, and A came by and helped me finish getting ready to go out. That worked out well. As I made my way to the front door of the floor, my friend M was signing in and I said, "Don't bother. Let's go!" and he helped me down to the first floor in the elevator. There was lots of traffic, and it took us about half an hour to get to the restaurant. Yikes!
I had been a little bummed when we had to reschedule the meal, and it turned from a dinner to a lunch. We had only ever been to this restaurant at lunch, and I was eager to see what the difference was at dinner. Mom said the private room where we ate was completely booked in December, thus the lunch. We stuffed ourselves, and it was so good I completely forgot I had been disappointed.
I was still so full from lunch that I only ate the salad and some fruit for dinner. My sister and I had both shared what we ordered, and we both had leftovers when we were done, so I have another couple of meals to enjoy! I was so tired, and my arms felt so heavy that I thought I would go to sleep in an instant, but no, I couldn't get to sleep until almost 2 AM. Crap!
Saturday, December 6th
Earlier in the week, I thought I needed sushi as usual, but with the leftovers, I told my sister not to bring me any food. She was waiting to hear back about a house she was looking into, which made her very distracted. That's great, but I would love to live somewhere where I could have my own room and a cat. I know that can happen, but I am assuming it would take a while for everything to fall into place, so nothing will change in the near future.
After dinner, I had my monthly appointment with my nutritionist, and we talked about my hair and my wanting to move. It's basically something I need to accept as possible and calmly assert for it to manifest in front of me. That's the theory, anyway. As I have said before, we shall see…
I decided to skip the podcast because it hasn't been making me sleepy lately. I watched a TV show peeking under my eyes' shades and turned it off immediately when I started lifting off. That did the trick, and I fell asleep.
Sunday, December 7th
It's so nice to wake up after a really good night’s sleep! Mom and my sister were at a fundraiser for a friend today, and I did not see either of them. I thought I would get more financial work done or finish writing an essay for this month, but it was not to be. I did write Monday and Tuesday of the blog, so at least I got that started. I had done a good job of writing it all on Monday, so I was looking to repeat that. Overall, a good week.
The cover photo for this week is me at the party! My sister had gone to an event where she got this headband as a party favor, and she knew I would love it, which I did. It cleverly disguises the fact that I have no hair on the top of my head. If I hadn’t pointed that out, you would not know that's why I loved this! I also love that it has fun blinking lights on it. There's also a picture with my sister and another of the whole table at the end of the blog. Have a fabulous week!
