I suggested some movies, and so did Mom, but nothing excited anyone. I thought M should choose the movie, and he had this classic Spielberg flick on tap. I remember being 9 years old and Mom not allowing me to see this movie. Even then, in the back of my mind, I thought that was a good decision since it probably was too scary a movie for me at that time.
This 1975 movie stars Roy Schneider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss. It holds up really well, and I can see why people thought twice about going into the water that summer. Mom didn't like that one of the main characters gets eaten, but that's the way it goes!

I was glad to see D and get a nice, good rub down. Somehow, we had gotten on the subject of songs, and I was talking about ABBA, which she was not familiar with. I really wanted to play some ABBA so she could hear them and say, oh yeah, I know that song. (I just want an excuse to play the songs out loud. When I have a strong connection with a song, I will start crying, which I think is especially silly for their upbeat, happy songs. Oh well.)

J visited me and brought me summer rolls that he had gotten from the supermarket. They were great supermarket summer rolls, but I had been picturing traditional fat restaurant summer rolls and was just a little bit disappointed. That's mainly because I didn't know I was getting these. If I knew that was coming, I would've been happy. J reads this blog, so I hope he understands and brings some fat restaurant summer rolls next week!
I really don't want to sound unappreciative. I love that he came to visit at all because he was busy, and that's probably why he did the quick thing, because he probably didn't have time to go to the restaurant. Yippee! Thank you, thank you, thank you! He also put my new iPad into the new cover I got for it. It's clear and very low profile, but I'm really enjoying how it looks. He also mentioned that blue light is apparently not a problem anymore, so I did not need to put a protective coating on the front of the iPad. That may not be true for older models, but that‘s the joy of owning something brand new!

I tried to start an essay so I could have something to read to Dr. R, but nothing came to me. I think Freddie is getting used to lying on my bed for a bit. Yay! Later in the day, A brought M to visit. M is a good friend of A’s who is starting to get dementia. A spends time with her, and we have met. She's very nice and mostly seems completely normal, except she can't answer questions very well. I made the mistake of asking about her adult children who visited recently. She seemed used to not being able to answer basic things, and I will try to remember not to ask again.

Mom came by at lunch and fed me. Then we watched the latest episode of The Pitt. It's such a good show, and after we watched the extra segment about the making of the show. In the episode, they had to crack open the upper half of someone, and you saw in detail how that was accomplished. Fascinating. I don't think I would want to see that in real life, but here it was interesting.
In the evening, my helper was C, which really depressed me. She's a very nice person who likes me, but she's really not a very good CNA. She's willing to do the job, so I'm not going to complain about her, but I don't get wiped the way I want to. I don't usually get her two days in a row, and this was the first time I got her three days in a row! I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night.

My sister had to go to the Big Island for a trial she's working on and didn't return until this morning. Then she had an appointment for her Christmas/Birthday present, and then had to go back to work on the trial. I had asked Mom not to visit me today, and I spent most of the day working on finishing the spreadsheet for last year's expenses. All I need is January's credit card statement for the last of December’s charges.
Sunday, January 18th
Mom stopped by after church and fed me lunch. Then she just wanted to do what I wanted to do. We worked on some games and puzzles until she had to go. I worked on my blog and finished through Wednesday. I had asked Mom to get some sushi for me, and I was hoping I would see my sister tomorrow since it was a holiday. I didn't remember which holiday, but does it really make a difference? (When I found out it was MLK day, I felt bad, like I was somehow being racist by not remembering the holiday. Oh well, I got over it.)
The cover photo is me in my latest new T-shirt my sister got me when they visited wine country in France. I like the color, but I'm realizing that half the shirts I have are some version of blue, and it‘s bugging me a little. I'm also realizing that taking a picture of my shirt is an excuse for a photo, but it‘s a good excuse, and you like seeing a photo of me, right? (Just smile and nod and back away slowly.) Have a great week!
