I like listening to Blank Check, a podcast about movies. It's a long, rambling conversation with the two hosts and a guest about one director's filmography, one movie at a time. They were going through the movies of Peter Weir, and this was a discussion of his first Hollywood movie. After listening to it, I really wanted to see the movie and suggested it to Mom. She remembered it as a good movie and was happy for the suggestion. When she mentioned the choice to M, he was happy to watch a Harrison Ford flick. Perfect!
This 1985 film stars HF, along with Kelley McGillis, Lucas Haas, Danny Glover, and a young Viggo Mortensen in a small role as one of the Amish. Harrison had just been in Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark, and he wanted to do a movie that showed he could really act. Peter Weir was coming off success in Australia and was breaking into Hollywood. They both enjoyed working together so much that they continued the collaboration with Mosquito Coast. Not nearly as successful, but it did cement River Phoenix as a young HF.

I was in my bed for this week’s massage, and I shared This Week Tonight with John Oliver with her. Even though I get massages once a week, I somehow always forget about it until the masseuse shows up. I really enjoy D1, but my initial reaction is always that I would rather just keep doing whatever I‘m doing. You don't want to get a nice massage? Really, I could go either way. Don‘t be such a banana slug!
Wednesday, April 22nd
Mom stopped by at lunch, and since my sister hadn’t visited last weekend, I asked her to stop at Diamond Head Grill for some miso salmon. Yummy! There were three pieces of fish, so I had it for lunch, dinner that night, and tomorrow night! Yum, yum, yum!

I didn’t make notes this week, and I am late getting the blog out, so I am trying to finish quickly. It was a routine visit from Dr. R and Freddie, which, of course, I love, but there‘s nothing special to report.
Friday, April 24th
Mom stopped by for lunch. Maybe you are picking up how normal and unremarkable this week was. There's really nothing more to say about today.
Saturday April 25th
My sister stopped by for a quick visit and brought one package of veggie dragon rolls. It's so simple but so good! Mom overlapped with her, as she would not be able to visit tomorrow. My sister left, and about an hour later, my stepbrother showed up with his usual offering of shrimp pad Thai. He showed Mom and me photos of his new grandchild, which were, of course, adorable. I love it when my visitors can overlap!
Sunday, April 26th
A, who had been busy for a while, wanted to start a routine of walking, and she lived close enough that she could walk to me, so she stopped by for half an hour this morning! It was great to see her, and we had a nice time catching up. My sister stopped by at lunchtime and fed me a helping of pad Thai from last night. Pad Thai lasts me five helpings, so it is a very good deal! She couldn't stay long, but she did help me submit my essay to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. I really hope they publish it!
I forgot to mention the nurse who works the overnight shift just got back from a vacation to Japan, and she found a cute kitty garland in a stationery store there. She bought one for herself and one for me! My sister helped me hang it on the window shade above the tenugui from Japan. Then M took a picture of Mom and me with my new decorations, and that is this week’s cover photo! Have a fabulous week!
