I haven't been sleeping well the last few days, as my neighbor has taken to yelling in the evening and my noise-canceling headphones have been stuck in a mode that hears all the background noise. Unfortunately, I have yet to master everything about my wonderful headphones, and even if I know what to do, it's not always easy for my CNA to do it.
So I was tired today. I ordered the rest of the snacks I needed from Amazon so I can make snack bags! I'm looking forward to eating all the yummy stuff! I also spoke to my neighbor and told her what was happening in the evening. I'm trusting that she likes me enough to try to change what she's doing, but I may also be overestimating her ability to do anything about it. I also spoke quickly with the head nurse about changing rooms, but we are very full right now, and there's nowhere to go.
Mom was not available, and, as it turned out, neither was M, so I was alone today. I like October because Criterion has nothing but horror movies, which I have come to appreciate in my older years. I thought the description for this 2011 movie by Andrew Wingard was intriguing, so I watched it. I won't give it away, but I ultimately enjoyed it. I had to wade through a lot of gore, but I thought it was well done and had a nice attitude about it.

My headphones accidentally switched back to noise canceling, which was fabulous, as I finally was able to get six solid hours of sleep! That was great, and I was able to send out about 25 invitations to my birthday party. Yes! I was getting very impatient, so I just added people manually and got it done! I will do more tomorrow, but at least my immediate family is done.
I had invited my masseuse, and she RSVPed immediately! Wonderful! About three or four other people also responded very quickly! I love getting the email that somebody RSVPed! Fun!

I had another night of decent sleep, but I bypassed a lot! It didn't happen as much during the day, and I wrote my blog. (I have a lot to catch up on, so that job is seemingly never done.) I asked my nurse why I peed so much, and he said that my leg was too high.
My catheter is attached to my leg, and for a long time when I was living on Maui, my feet were swollen, and I would keep them raised whenever I slept. I got used to sleeping that way, but now I was making my pee climb uphill before it was collected in my urine bag, and it was too lazy to work that hard. ‘I'll take the old exit rather than use this new catheter.’ I lowered my leg, and voila! No more bypassing into the diaper!
(That was my urine talking, if you didn’t understand the quotes.)
Thursday, October 15th
I think Dr. R was away, so I sent out another big bunch of invitations to friends. At some point, when I'm done with the people in Hawaiʻi, I will send invitations to people on the mainland who, if I had unlimited funds, I would fly out to join me. It's a nice way of letting people know they are important to me!
When I was done with the invitations, I was still in party planning mode, so I went on Amazon and searched for brownie sundae toppings. Yum! This entire dinner is based on things I like, and dessert is no different. Everything is something I could eat, so the entire dinner is based on my food preferences. So much of my life recently means compromising on foods I would really rather not eat. So for my party, everyone will be forced to eat gluten-free. I don't think anyone will suffer.
Friday, October 16th
I watched more movies, and Mom visited for lunch. I sent out some more invitations to a few people I had forgotten about.
Saturday, October 17th
My sister came to visit, and I had her send out invitations to a few of her friends and people whose contact information she had. She also made some snack bags for me. It was a smaller batch of bags since I only had three snacks. It would get me through until we had everything. She also brought me sushi, which tasted fabulous!
Sunday, October 18th
Mom visited at lunch, and we talked about the party, and I made a new list concerning table decorations. I had found the perfect color tablecloths that came in deep purple, bright pink, and gold! Let's just say I am not being subtle with my colors. I'm really having fun planning everything from my bed!
The cover photo for this week is me with my snacks! I got everything on Amazon except for the bag of Lundberg Mini Rice Cakes. My sister brought me those with the sushi, and that's what we used for the snack bags that were made. The Kraft macaroni and cheese and the Cheez-Its were both gluten-free, and I was curious to try them. They were fine, but I'm not sure I was missing anything.
Have a great week!
