“Roman Holiday” - 6/23-29/25

Monday, June 23rd

Mom had just finished watching a documentary on Audrey Hepburn and was interested in watching Breakfast at Tiffany's. M and I were not up for watching some of the horrible injustices in that movie, but I had never seen this movie. Gregory Peck and AH are young and impossibly beautiful. Mom couldn't believe how small AH‘s waist was. It is a fun romp of a movie made in 1953 by William Wyler. I was bummed they couldn't stay together, but she was a princess and sometimes you just have fun for a day.

I was glad to get a massage in the afternoon. I definitely have tight spots on my back that she worked on. She's going to be going on vacation for three weeks in July after next week. I have to remember to tell mom about that.

Wednesday, June 25th

J&B came by with another order of the Vietnamese spring rolls from last week. They also had a bag of Lay’s sour cream and onion potato chips. That's what I had said I was craving. So good! A perfect occasional treat as they are quite messy and quite fattening.

J had a stylus to try out and see if it was any better then the stylus I was using. It wasn't, so we just put it to the side. He also brought a gaming headset that had a speaker built into the left headset. My Sony headset has amazing noise-canceling and sound quality, but they rarely work with my phone. They are also supposed to have a built-in microphone, but it just doesn't work. The gaming headset, is the exact reverse. Crappy noise-cancelling but the microphone works amazingly well. The iPad can hear my voice commands really well which makes writing with voice dictation very accurate. It is a revelation to dictate with these headphones on! Thank you J!

I really like having Freddie come with Dr. R, but he mainly sits in the stroller. I really think it's my job to connect with him the rest of the week so he has a reason to want to get on the bed with me. It just isn't a priority right now. There's something comforting to me about having him in the same room with me.

I had a nice second conversation with my friend in Michigan. I am purposefully taking my time to refute her beliefs because she wants more than just ’that's not true’. This conversation lasted an hour and a half and I have the sound recording of it. Apple said there would be a transcription to go with that, but I think because of the length, I need to see how do get them to do the transcription. We left it that we would each look up articles to support our side of the beliefs we have. We picked the deportation of the Venezuelans to El Salvador as our topic to investigate.

I'm having fun talking to K, but it is a bit of a challenge to find articles from sources she finds credible. She doesn't trust any mainstream American news sources as being unbiased. That is, of course, a very convenient way of discrediting all news and not having to deal with any of it. She does sometimes like Politico and foreign news stories about America have a lot more credit in her eyes for being unbiased. So I will look at the Guardian for stories to back me up. Wish me luck!

Friday, June 27th

I felt tired thinking about what I need to do to convince K of our president’ s lawlessness, so today was a day off. Caught up on my Criminal Minds and Last Week Tonight.

Saturday, June 28th

Mom and Pam are going to visit me tomorrow, so I had another day to myself today. I found an article on the Guardian about the tattoos that were the reason many people were detailed. Of course, it's almost impossible to prove a negative, but I will give it the old college try.

I'm getting better about going to sleep at night. After I take the melatonin, I need to settle down and close my eyes within an hour and then I will drift off into peaceful slumber all night. Because I wake up between 5:30 and 6 AM, falling asleep at 10 PM gets me 7½ to eight hours which is great. Going to sleep at 10 PM is early for me, but I better get used to it living here.

Sunday, June 29th

My sister went to the grocery store and got me a 10-piece Hawaiian roll and a premade sampler with 15 pieces. Yikes! That's a lot of sushi! Don't get me wrong, I will never complain about it, but there's a lot to eat.

Mom showed up a bit later so that she had my sister could lay down the law about my supplements monthly allowance. I will make it work for now. It makes me tired to think of how concerned they are about me and my financial situation. I don't feel the need to worry like they do. I will leave the worrying for when I actually need to worry. I do not now.

The cover photo is one I took when mom and my sister were in Europe. This is my aunt, my mom's sister visiting me. Don't we both look fresh and happy? Yes, we do. Have a fabulous week!
