Mom, M and I were pondering movies and somehow mom and M thought I should pick today. I turned to my trusty Criterion Channel, but instead of one of the movies I suggested initially, we chose this movie as Brian Cox was featured this month and he spoke about this movie and Spencer Tracy as the best film actor of all time.
This movie was made in 1955 and was directed by Preston Sturges. It stars ST and Robert Ryan and has early performances by Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine. It’s a tense thriller about racial politics in a very small town. Spencer Tracy plays a veteran with the use of only his right arm. It does not make him any less capable of defending himself when he needs to. Very well done.

Did not do much today. My masseuse is on vacation this week so I got to sit around and watch a few things and think about the things I'm not writing.

I had asked J&B to bring spring rolls from the first place they went, but things ended up getting a little mixed up and they brought me summer rolls instead. They apologized profusely but I was not perturbed at all as they are pretty tasty as well! If you haven't had them, they are about twice as fat as a spring roll and have shrimp, noodles and crispy greens inside and are not fried. They also come with a delicious peanut sauce. Yum! I think you should make that mistake once a month.
A while ago, I had asked about getting Bit-O-Honey which I had remembered liking and had a hankering for. Well, the time for that candy’s popularity has come and gone and it is not readily available, especially in the islands. J had ordered it from Amazon and they brought me a bag of the candies individually wrapped. It had been a bar that was cut in pieces when I bought it, but it tasted exactly the same! Thank you, thank you oodles!! I have to be careful not to take advantage of their generosity. It will take me a while to get through this bag anyway.

Dr. R brought Freddie early and left him by my bed so he could hang out with me in his stroller. He sat up when mom left initially, but I talked to him and he soon laid back down and didn't make a peep. He still doesn't like getting out of the stroller much, but if he is comfortable sitting with me by himself, we are hoping that he will get more comfortable with lying on the bed with me.

I have been thinking about starting a section called My Politics where I can talk about current events and keep all that possibly divisive talk segregated away from people who don't want to read it. I think we are at a time where instead of democrat and republican we should divide into Democracy and Authoritarian. There is a growing danger that this administration will try to do something like ending elections or maybe just make them meaningless. Anyway, I'm very nervous. Have a nice weekend.

My sister had lunch with an old friend and then ended up seeing a play in Chinatown so she didn't come to see me today. I worked on a quick speech for my class reunion. I have an appointment next week with my nutritionist to get a new supplement regime. I am so sensitive it seems that when I have a buildup of bacteria I feel it in my urethra or vagina and I can't sleep for the low-grade pain. I frequently am on the verge of getting sick but I don't have a temperature and the signs are things only I notice. I start bypassing or peeing in my diaper. Of course, when I pee there's only a small amount because of my catheter and others dismiss it. For me, my urethra sits in the wet spot on my diaper and makes it more likely that I will pee again. It usually doesn't stop until I get cleaned up and get a new dry diaper.
I view the supplements as giving my body the nutrition it needs to fight off the bacteria effectively. I need to document things closely so I can show Mom and my sister the obvious pattern. Or obvious to me anyway.

Mom stopped by after church and gave me lunch. The first thing she said was that she thought I would be up in my chair. This was at 11 AM and my haircut was not until 1:30 PM. They came and got me up in my chair about 20 minutes later. My sister came by after lunch and helped me get outside on the lanai for my haircut. It's nice to have an excuse to get a real haircut and have an actual hairdresser take time to give me an actual haircut.
My sister also put my quilt and fabric back up on the newly washed curtains. We rewrote the ad on care.com and then she sent a message to a friend who might be able to do it herself. It vaguely seemed to me that I was forgetting things I wanted her to do, but maybe I was just wishing for some general hang out time. Next weekend.
I was going to have M take a picture of me in this shirt, which is one that my sister brought me back from Boston, I even told him out loud I wanted the picture. But then everyone left and 30 seconds later I realized no picture had been taken. So my CNA helpfully filled in and got this shot of me. This also shows my new haircut. You can't see it in the picture but the bottom of the shirt reads ‘Equality over Inequality’. We could use some of that right now. Have a fabulous week!
