Today was M’s pick, and he was following Mom's lead, and so was looking at movies from 1970. He gave us a choice between a Charles Bronson movie, something I can't remember but knew I didn't really want to see, and this. This 1970 film by Robert Altman stars Donald Sutherland, Elliot Gould, Tom Skerritt, Robert Duvall, and Sally Kellerman, among others. This is the movie the TV show was based upon... Who knew a sitcom based on the Korean War would be such a hit for 10 years?
This movie was included with Prime, but we balked at the idea of paying five dollars a month to get rid of commercials. So we sat through the myriad commercial breaks, which were very intrusive and unwelcome. Afterwards, I realized I should have signed up for the commercial-free viewing and then immediately canceled it. That's why I prefer watching something on a streaming service I subscribe to.

I was really glad that I was feeling good today, so I enjoyed the rubdown I got from D1. Other than that, just another warm day inside my air-conditioned room.
Wednesday, June 17th
Mom stopped by after lunch. It was the first time she had visited other than Mondays in two weeks. She is getting used to how to move around, and it really just means taking it slow all the time. It makes it very obvious she is getting older, but then aren't we all?

Dr. R and Freddie showed up today, and she didn’t waste time waiting for him to jump on the bed; she just put him in his tent. He promptly settled down on my legs. She asked if he was heavy, and I said, "I love having him sit on me!" I don't even need to see him. Just feeling a cat on me is the best!

My sister came by at breakfast! I'm never sure exactly when she will get here, so I let my CNA feed me. That means we can chat and have time together when she arrives, about five or 10 minutes after I am done eating. She put up some postcards I had on my wall, and I asked her to get me the garlic Parmesan chicken wings for my outside food choice this weekend. Doesn't that sound good?

My sister came at about 12:45 and stayed until about 4 PM. A nice long visit! It seems like it has been months since we hung out. I had gotten my AirPods, but I didn’t know how to pair the audio with my headphones so we could both listen to the same program. She figured that out, and we watched a couple of episodes of Cape Fear on Apple TV. The room was so warm that we were both asleep by the end!
We woke up, and I asked my sister to order a poster that John Oliver had made supporting artists from Ghana. They have made a number of posters for American movies that have nothing to do with the actual movie. So John told them very broadly about his show, and they made him a poster. I have a corner high up on one wall where it will fit in perfectly and complete the wall. They also said it will take months to arrive, so by then it will be a birthday present to me!

Mom went to church for the first time in a month or so and stopped by my place afterwards. She helped me eat two pieces of chicken wings that my sister had brought yesterday. It was only somewhat awkward to gnaw the chicken off the bone while Mom held it. After lunch, we went out to the area by the elevator where I got my haircut for the first time this year!
Mom had liked my hair in May, so I saw no reason to cut it then. It was now getting problematically long, so we got rid of it! I will schedule another cut at the beginning of November, so I look good for my big birthday party. I wanted to get a photo of the big pile of hair behind my chair, but that didn't happen. Oh well. We talked about coloring my hair. He was worried that we would not be able to wash out all the dye, and it would burn my scalp. Poop!
Have a fabulous week!
