Monday, June 22nd
The nurse said it was time to change my catheter, but as I had had a suppository and I was not cleaned up yet, I asked if I could have it changed next Monday. He said the doctor would be here Wednesday, and I pointed out that since I have a suppository every other day, that would not work either. Next week Monday I would not have a suppository. I didn't want to have this problem every month, so I wanted it changed on a day I was clean. He finally understood and left.
I got up in my chair before lunch so that we could go to the small dining room across the hall to watch this movie. It was on Criterion, no doubt because “Disclosure Day” was opening and Mom had also expressed interest in watching it. Perfect! Big movies do not stay more than one month on the channel, so I knew it was here for a limited time.
This movie was made in 1977 by Steven Spielberg and stars Richard Dreyfuss, Melinda Dillon, and Teri Garr. It was his first foray into alien life, and it's a very optimistic, hopeful one. I was wondering how nervous SS would have been directing François Truffaut. Very ballsy of him to give himself that challenge so early in his career. Of course it helped that it was a huge hit financially and critically.
Tuesday, June 23rd
I got a nice massage from D1 while we listened to Erasure, a band I liked from the 80s. I also wrote most of my blog today, so that was good. I was bad about keeping notes for this week, so I don't have a lot to say about what happened.
Wednesday, June 24th
Mom might have come for lunch, but I didn't make a note about it, or I'm not sure if she was here or not. She was still having a lot of problems with her knee, so she might not have come.
Thursday, June 25th
Dr. R showed up, but she was not able to wrangle Freddie as he had jumped on top of and then behind a big shelf. Oh well. I read her the new essay that I was almost done with, and then we played some Spelling Bee.
Friday, June 26th
I didn’t make notes on this day either, so it is somewhat of a black hole. I promise I will make better notes for next week, so be prepared for a long blog then.
Saturday, June 27th
My sister visited and brought me my usual two packages of sushi, which I hadn't had for a while and tasted great! We watched one more episode of Cape Fear, and then she left early because she thought she might have to take her cat in since he had been having a fever lately.
Sunday, June 28th
Mom visited after church and fed me half while sitting down and half of the time standing up. I know it hurts to stand, or it does after too long anyway, so I tell her to sit down after it's been a while. She's taken care of so many people in her life, and now that she has to take care of herself, she's not used to it. To me, it's a perfect kind of symmetry that's happening.
So I know Freddie did not visit me this week, but Dr. R took this photo of him last week, and I didn't end up using it, so here it is now! That's my hand near him. Have a great week, and there will be more to the blog next week!
