“The Poseidon Adventure” - 9/21-27/26

Monday, September 21st

It was finally catheter changing day! The doctor came at 7 a.m. and changed everything quickly and efficiently. Yay! Good job, Doc! I got up in my chair, but our room and the room next to mine were both exposed to a virus, and in order to make sure it didn't spread, I had to stay inside the room. It was still easier to arrange Mom and M next to me to watch the movie. And we are farther away from my neighbor, so the noise from the movie doesn't bother her as much.

It was Mom's turn to choose a movie, and she was running through a list of movies from 1975 that she wanted to see. We tried to watch the original version of The Stepford Wives, but it was not available through Amazon Prime. Poop! This was our second choice.

It was interesting to watch this movie, but it is easy to forget the context in which it opened. Ronald Neame directed this 1972 disaster epic with Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, and Shelley Winters. GH was coming off The French Connection, which had come out the year before. I'm sure that added weight to this rather straightforward movie. It's always fun to see actors when they are young!

Tuesday, September 22nd

I don't have anything to say about today except I got another good massage from D1.

Wednesday, September 23rd

I got my flu vaccine this morning. The nurse who gave it to me was talking to me about, I don't remember what, but instead of asking which arm I wanted to get the shot in, she just gave it to me in my left arm because she was on that side. I usually take shots into my right arm because that is more numb, but I hardly felt it. It felt a little sore the next day but nothing to complain about.

Thursday, September 24th

Dr R and Freddie came, and, as he does regularly now, he jumped onto the bed immediately! Dr R said that the workers were at her place and it was tricky to get Freddie out from under the couch where he was hiding. He resisted until she put him in the stroller and he realized where he was going. Then he was fine. Yay! I'm glad that I am a safe, quiet refuge for him.

Friday, September 25th

Mom stopped by at lunch, and we got caught up. My sister came by around 2 p.m. with food from Guava Smoked. I haven't gotten food from there for a while since Mom had been having trouble walking. They are on the second floor, and there's a flight of stairs to walk up to get to the restaurant. That's not a problem for my sister, though, so I ordered food from them. Yum!

Saturday, September 26th

My sister was getting ready to fly to Illinois to see an older relative, and Mom went to see the new Brad Pitt movie with her sister and a friend, so I had a quiet day to myself. In the evening, my nutritionist tested me for a new supplement routine. I don't even have to be on the phone with her when she retests me! She is VERY unconventional, and I see a positive difference with the pills.

I'm looking forward to a new set of pills, as I can tell the difference when the old set runs out. I have developed a rash on my lower back, and I know that will go away when I start the new regimen. I feel like my body is fragile, and the supplements keep me on an even keel.

Sunday, September

Mom came by and fed me some Guava Smoked for lunch. It's so good! After that, we looked up the caterers she had used for my stepfather's memorial service eight years ago. At first, I was irritated I couldn't get Diamond Head Grill catering, as that had been set in my mind. Then I saw the pictures of their food, and I was sold. Yum! In the interest of not spoiling things for friends who will read this and come to the party, you will have to wait for detailed descriptions.

The cover picture this week is something my sister sent me from Illinois, as she was looking through our relatives' things. It is a picture from 1968. I would guess by the clothes that it is summertime, so I have not turned two years old yet. My grandfather is holding me, my grandmother is sitting next to him, along with my dad’s sister in braids, and my mom is a young 28-year-old! They were visiting the older couple in the background, and I assume my father is taking the picture. Wow!

Have a great week!
