This week was written on October 11th, which is largely why there will not be as much detail. I apologize for this procrastination, but I have been less and less motivated to write lately. I am now massively distracted by getting ready for my birthday party, so I fear things will get worse before they get better.
Monday, September 28th
I called the caterer Mom had used for my stepfather’s memorial service. That felt like I was actually doing something for my party. I got the form she sent but needed to wait for my sister's help to fill it out.
It was my turn to pick a movie, and I was at a loss! M had suggested Clue as a tribute to Tim Curry, and I liked that idea. So we watched this 1985 movie directed by Jonathan Lynn starring Tim Curry and a host of people who should've been a lot funnier than they were. Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull, and Michael McKean, to name a few. I was disappointed I had ended my run of good movie choices on Monday. Oh well.
Tuesday, September 29th
D1 came to give me a massage as usual, and we celebrated that my neighbor was at a doctor's appointment and so is not here today! Of course, I had to remind people to turn off her TV after she was in her chair and gone. I know that CNAs have better things to do besides turning radios and TVs on or off, but it is truly annoying to have that noise going when no one is watching it! I had four glorious hours of silence before she returned, and it started up again. I love silence.
Wednesday, September 30th
Mom stopped by for a quick visit, and we discussed the party. She talked about an artist friend who also worked catering for the Hilton. She wanted them to work my party and take care of the food. Sounded good to me! I also texted A, who would also know people who could work my party. I would spare no expense to make sure Mom was reassured.
Thursday, October 1st
Dr R and Freddie came for another excellent visit. I also went to Evite.com to look at their invitation choices. I liked the fact that they would keep track of the RSVPs. The website used such small text I had trouble reading it. This would take a while.
Friday, October 2nd
Criterion had recently revamped their entire website, and I had to sign back in, which took a minute. I always look forward to October, as I have come to appreciate the horror movie genre as I have gotten older. They are also shorter movies, and I watched three of them back-to-back today. One of them was even good!
Mom visited late in the afternoon and brought teriyaki chicken from Diamond Head Grill! Fabulous! My sister was traveling to the mainland to visit relatives, and she would not be able to visit Saturday, so this was a nice way to have outside food over the weekend. Thanks, Mom!
Saturday, October 3rd
This day fell into a black hole, as I don't remember anything that happened. No one visited me, so there's really not much to talk about anyway.
Sunday, October 4th
Mom came for a quick visit and then left. I don't remember what I did the rest of the day, but it was not writing the blog. I was honestly avoiding writing this, which is why this week feels a little light—though it’s still better than that one week when I didn’t write anything at all!
On Sunday, my sister traveled to Illinois to visit a relative. While there, she found this picture of our relative when she was just 20 years old. I'm sure she would not want me to share a photo of her now, but a photo of her in her prime? Who wouldn't want everyone to see them when they were young? Those were the days…
Have a great week!
